So as finals are approaching most of us will make poor health decisions with sleep, food and stress. To help with the sleep and stress, try to study for a few hours and then take breaks in between. If you do not get sleep more than likely it will be hard to retain information. If you need to relieve stress or anxiety try a little exercise or meditation.
As far as the choices on food. . .
Stay away from the energy drinks I talked about in Feb. They only provide high amounts of sugar
and cause a bad crash afterward.
Try to avoid the cheap fast-food that will be fast and convenient, but harmful later.
Instead of eating heavy or those unhealthy vending machine foods at 1am, pack a snack to take
with you.
Here are some snacks to help with hunger and the fight to learn as much information before those huge finals! These are Energy Boosting Snacks according to WebMD.com.
Fresh bananas and apples (1piece of fruit or 1 cup of fruits or berries)
Cereal and yogurt 6 ounce yogurt
Popcorn (low-fat)
Half a turkey sandwich
Red peppers and hummus (veggies and 1/4 cup of hummus)
Almonds and Walnuts 1 ounce
Soy crisps 1 serving bag
I know I will be taking these tips into consideration for the next week and hope I do not add stress or loose too much sleep!
What will you be doing to avoid unhealthy options in a time-crunching week?

Are you Drained or Relieved By Crying?

Some people see crying as a sign of weakness or a puncture to their pride. Others use crying to feel relieved or show emotion. For me I used to bottle up my emotions and I did not cry for two years once. Then something traumatic happened in my life and I cried day after day because I had so much repressed emotions. After that experience I realized that crying can be somewhat draining at times but allows a person to experience hurt and they relief. This can, in turn be an energy booster instead of depressed or angry emotions bottling up.
How does crying make you feel?
Cleansing Program
People sometimes have a hard time dealing with gas, constipation, bloating and digesting food. If this is you or someone you know someone is experiencing any of these symptoms, then you may have decreased energy. Everyone's body reacts to what we eat differently no matter what type of food we eat. Yes it is unfair that some people have a digestive system of a king or a metabolism of a non-sleeping garbage disposal. Let's face reality though, even if we change our eating habits or find other ways to help our metabolism, we may need to resort to other options.
CLEANSING PROGRAMS!!!
Detoxing cleansing products potentially scare people or keep them skeptical of trying the week process. I was even scared to try the process because I did not know the facts. I looked into the information more through the Internet and my own doctor. The body can poison itself by autointoxification. An example of this would be the colon for instance. Overtime the feces gets hard and collects toxins yet will not release. This process poisons the body and can cause disease or disorders.
Once the body is introduced to a detoxification system, the body will release the toxins and start functioning properly again, or at least improve. Now this is not just with the colon. Every organ in the body can use cleansing for function improvement. Most of these body cleansing systems are between a few days to a two week process. If you are looking to cleanse the whole body, the programs are longer because the targeted organs are scheduled through pills over the days. If you are interested in just cleaning one part, there many available.
Head over to the closest GNC and see if there are any systems you would be interested in trying. The employees there can help explain more details to the program as far as the eating habits while taking the cleanser. If cleaning out your body makes your organs function better you will experience an energy boost!
Have any of you tried a detox system?

Procrastination is an Energy Booster?
Procrastination, everyone tells you to avoid putting yourself in situations where you feel rushed and leave things to the last minute.
I know for a fact that when I procrastinate, I do get the thrill of knowing how fast I can do something or the fact that I actually got something done. In the end though I do not get a huge boost from that 5 minute adrenaline rush. In fact I think it is the quite opposite. Normally after I rush through doing something I end up feeling exhausted and barely relieved.
Why do we do this to ourselves? And I know I am not the only one who procrastinates "every now and then"...
My challenge for the week and you too, is to create a new schedule and get stuff done on time or before its due that is. Sometimes I end up making myself extremely tired for the rest of the day and always ask myself why I did not do it earlier....
Does procrastination give you energy or drain it?

Personal Image can cause Energy

After having a horrible last week, I knew I needed to do something to distract myself from rethinking things in my head. I had been in the worst mood ever and I wanted to pick myself up.
I headed over to a hair salon and chopped quite a bit off. I smiled the whole time the lady was cutting it. After the weight was removed, my head felt lighter, I felt relieved! For rest of the day, I was filled with happy energy because I felt better about myself.
Sometimes you do not need the vitamins, work out, or perfect eating habits to increase your energy. A simple image change or confidence booster can increase your energy, even if it is a simple hair cut.
Boosting your self-image or making yourself feel better can definitely brighten your day and give you the energy to move on. I encourage you to take the time to see how you feel about yourself and if you have time, no wait, make time to do something for yourself.
Guest Speaker... gave me some ENERGY
Just some thoughts on how the presentation went...
Al Martinez, a book writer and journalist, definitely opened my eyes back up to the industry of journalism again. When I first sat down inside of the room where he was the guest speaker, I thought to myself this going to be a long, uninteresting presentation. The reason for that is there was no power-point or extra stuff in the room for a demonstration. After hearing the introduction, I thought this might be interesting after-all. The only reason I entered the room with such a pessimistic attitude was based on the previous guest speaker I listened to the day before.
He definitely surprised me with his life as a writer and encouraged me to find the writer in myself.
First what fascinated me about Al was the fact that he stayed true to himself as much as he could. He used the narrative style to be more literary instead of journalistic because he felt information can be captured by good writing. He learned to write by writing and did not worry about the technical stuff. He was key about showing his readers who he was and tried to understand and know his audience. He said the essential part of writing is communicating to the audience.
After hearing all this information, I started to reflect on how I used to writing poetry and short stories in high school and the beginning of my college years. He made me realize that I lost myself somewhere. I used to be able to just sit and write. Words used to flow out onto the paper and I had published poems.
Al made me realize it is not too late to search and reevaluate myself and see if the person who lived to write is still inside. His whole perspective of writing caught my attention and hope that one day in the future I can find that girl who loved to write her heart out.
In all I thought he was a great guest speaker and truly made an impact on all those in attendance, at least that’s what I think. I love the fact that he said he is on a journey to good writing and that he reads good stuff. Maybe I or other people can benefit from his story and his perspective on life in the media.
In all, I have a new and increased energy for reflecting on my writing skills...

Drunk Driving
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Chgl5uqij4
After the car accident that killed three people including one Cal State Fullerton student, I wanted to say something about drunk driving. I have lost more than one friend to accidents involving them as the driver and another party as the intoxicated driver. At first it was a bit difficult for me to say what I wanted to say, in such a short period of time. I really do hope for every tragic accident people will wise up and stop putting other people in danger. I also hope it won't take accidents like this for people to realize they are jeopardizing themselves and others. I felt comfortable talking into the camera and using Final Cut Pro.
