Procrastination is an Energy Booster?

Procrastination, everyone tells you to avoid putting yourself in situations where you feel rushed and leave things to the last minute.

I know for a fact that when I procrastinate, I do get the thrill of knowing how fast I can do something or the fact that I actually got something done. In the end though I do not get a huge boost from that 5 minute adrenaline rush. In fact I think it is the quite opposite. Normally after I rush through doing something I end up feeling exhausted and barely relieved.

Why do we do this to ourselves? And I know I am not the only one who procrastinates "every now and then"...

My challenge for the week and you too, is to create a new schedule and get stuff done on time or before its due that is. Sometimes I end up making myself extremely tired for the rest of the day and always ask myself why I did not do it earlier....

Does procrastination give you energy or drain it?

Personal Image can cause Energy

After having a horrible last week, I knew I needed to do something to distract myself from rethinking things in my head. I had been in the worst mood ever and I wanted to pick myself up.

I headed over to a hair salon and chopped quite a bit off. I smiled the whole time the lady was cutting it. After the weight was removed, my head felt lighter, I felt relieved! For rest of the day, I was filled with happy energy because I felt better about myself.

Sometimes you do not need the vitamins, work out, or perfect eating habits to increase your energy. A simple image change or confidence booster can increase your energy, even if it is a simple hair cut.

Boosting your self-image or making yourself feel better can definitely brighten your day and give you the energy to move on. I encourage you to take the time to see how you feel about yourself and if you have time, no wait, make time to do something for yourself.

Guest Speaker... gave me some ENERGY

Just some thoughts on how the presentation went...

Al Martinez, a book writer and journalist, definitely opened my eyes back up to the industry of journalism again. When I first sat down inside of the room where he was the guest speaker, I thought to myself this going to be a long, uninteresting presentation. The reason for that is there was no power-point or extra stuff in the room for a demonstration. After hearing the introduction, I thought this might be interesting after-all. The only reason I entered the room with such a pessimistic attitude was based on the previous guest speaker I listened to the day before.

He definitely surprised me with his life as a writer and encouraged me to find the writer in myself.

First what fascinated me about Al was the fact that he stayed true to himself as much as he could. He used the narrative style to be more literary instead of journalistic because he felt information can be captured by good writing. He learned to write by writing and did not worry about the technical stuff. He was key about showing his readers who he was and tried to understand and know his audience. He said the essential part of writing is communicating to the audience.

After hearing all this information, I started to reflect on how I used to writing poetry and short stories in high school and the beginning of my college years. He made me realize that I lost myself somewhere. I used to be able to just sit and write. Words used to flow out onto the paper and I had published poems.

Al made me realize it is not too late to search and reevaluate myself and see if the person who lived to write is still inside. His whole perspective of writing caught my attention and hope that one day in the future I can find that girl who loved to write her heart out.

In all I thought he was a great guest speaker and truly made an impact on all those in attendance, at least that’s what I think. I love the fact that he said he is on a journey to good writing and that he reads good stuff. Maybe I or other people can benefit from his story and his perspective on life in the media.

In all, I have a new and increased energy for reflecting on my writing skills...

Drunk Driving

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Chgl5uqij4

After the car accident that killed three people including one Cal State Fullerton student, I wanted to say something about drunk driving. I have lost more than one friend to accidents involving them as the driver and another party as the intoxicated driver. At first it was a bit difficult for me to say what I wanted to say, in such a short period of time. I really do hope for every tragic accident people will wise up and stop putting other people in danger. I also hope it won't take accidents like this for people to realize they are jeopardizing themselves and others. I felt comfortable talking into the camera and using Final Cut Pro.

Take Those Iron Pills

Now that the last post briefly discussed how important it is to keep a steady blood flow to organs, let us talk about IRON. Iron can be a huge energy booster. People who lack iron generally suffer from anemia. People can lack iron due to heavy menstruation, limited iron in foods, internal bleeding from things like ulcers and excessive use of aspirin.

Why is iron so important? Our bodies use iron to produce hemoglobin, which is a part of red blood cells, that carry oxygen through your body. When we lack iron our red cells are smaller and lower oxygen is carried.

If you feel like you cannot concentrate, have headaches, feel grumpy, feel weak or have dizziness, you may have iron deficiency anemia. For those thinking "do I have anemia?" you never know and if you have these symptoms go see a doctor. Treating anemia or avoiding it, will increase your energy.

While I was sick, I know those nice little iron pills helped out. Taking iron supplements may just increase your energy if your food does not do the job. As a kids I had to take iron medicine and let me tell you, it tasted disgusting! Do not wait until your body lacks oxygen, check your iron.

Can iron increase your energy? You tell me!

Iron ... Good or Bad...

I think GOOD...

Energy with WATER

Most of last week and the week prior I "suffered" with the flu, a sinus infection, and an eye infection! What a combo right? Anyway here is the energy booster for this week. Drink lots of water! Before the flu kicked in I was not drinking as much as I should and for that reason the flu sure got the best of me. My nose and mouth suffered irritation from the blowing of the nose and consistent breathing through the mouth. The bathroom was frequently used as well. Dehydration can cause the body to suffer in many ways. When illness occurs lack of fluids can slow down the blood flow to organs and if let long enough can cause the body to go into shock.

Dehydration can be caused by vomiting, diarrhea, sweating and exercise. The body looses excess amounts of fluids and can cause muscle cramps and faintness. According to WebMD, dehydration is most serious for babies and older adults.

As far as the ages in between babies and older adults, we still need to be cognizant of our water intake. If your mouth feels dry, have sticky saliva, low or dark urine, or feel irritable... you may be dehydrated. Keeping your body hydrated is very serious and can cause problems in the future if not taken care of now.

For us college students, water is important because it can keep us alert when studying, prevent damages to organs, and increase our ENERGY!!! The Docs always say "you need to increase your fluid intake"... Maybe we should listen. Now that the flu has passed, my intake of water greatly helped my situation and is now consistent in my day.

... Does water actually help with Energy? I think yes is a very strong answer..

Water . . . Good or Bad... I think GOOD!
