According to a WebMD doctor, energy drinks contain as much caffeine found in 14 cans of soda. On the opposition, still according to WebMD, spokespeople say the mainstream energy drinks contain just as much caffeine found in a 8oz cup of coffee.
Since energy drinks are considered to be a dietary supplement they are not required to actually label the precise amount of caffeine in each can. As we all know, combinations of sugar and caffeine with excessive use over large periods of time can severely harm our bodies. Does the target age range, high school and college students, really take the nutritional information or lack there of into consideration? As college students, it is our duty to be more knowledgeable about anything that goes into our body. All the time when I see people drinking those very tasty "energy boosters", I always tell them you better not drink to many! And what is the same answer I hear? "Well, I know they are bad for me but I don't drink them all the time". Just because you do not drink them everyday does not mean the substances inside stop accumulating or mixing with other unhealthy food items. People never realize that there is not just one set of finals, or one test, or one group project, or one drunken night, or one event that requires zero sleep! I realized that energy drinks are becoming excessive to all individuals who have poor time management and push all assignments or activities to the end, resulting in drinking the caffeine "energy booster". Yes, those sweet drinks complete the job of maintaining longer hours in the night/morning and make you feel more awake. If you think about, there is no way to cheat the system without sparing something else. Some just don't care that they gain a few hours of awake time yet harm the inside, that may just cut off years.
So in conclusion energy drinks good or bad?
I think BAD... yet will people stop drinking them?... I think not...
